A common civilian was killed and another injured in a ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Balakot sector of Jammu and Kashmir Poonch district.

A 65-year-old woman was killed and another seriously injured in a ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Balakot sector of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.A 65-year-old woman was killed and another critically injured Wednesday in heavy shelling from Pakistan along the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said. A police officer said that cross-border shelling in the Balakot and Mendhar sectors began around 2 am, with vigorous retaliation by the Indian Army. He said that two women Resham B and Hakam B were seriously injured in Pakistani shelling in village Lanjot and were rushed to the hospital. However, Resham B later succumbed to her injuries, while Hakam B was referred to the Jammu hospital for special treatment.

A defense spokesman said that Pakistan began violating the ceasefire without ceasefire by firing with small arms and intense shelling with mortars at 2 pm. The spokesman said that cross-border shelling from both sides continued for 45 minutes. He said the casualties in Pakistan's retaliation were not immediately known.

Pakistani Rangers opened fire with small arms in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district, bordering the international border in Jammu division. There was no damage from the firing. The soldiers of the 19th Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) also gave a befitting reply. The Pak Rangers opened fire at villages Chak Changa and Chhan Tanda in Hiranagar sector at around 11:30 pm on Monday night, which continued intermittently till 4.30 am on Tuesday.

During the firing, the people sitting in the bunkers suffered a lot due to the power shutdown. Later the employees of the electricity department restored the power supply by connecting the broken wires near the Taranah drain. In the morning, personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Special Operation Group carried out a search operation in the area around Taranah Nalla, but nothing was found.
