With every team giving their all to remain in the competition, the battle for the semifinals has begun to heat up. Check out scenarios for each of the 10 teams' World Cup 2023 for semifinal qualification.

India: 1st position

Upcoming matches: England, Sri Lanka, South Africa & Netherlands.

Points: 10

The main goal for India will be to take down at least one more game in order to qualify for the semifinals. The teams with six victories will unquestionably advance to the next phase.

New Zealand: 2nd position

Upcoming matches: Australia, South Africa, Pakistan & Sri Lanka.

Points: 8

To guarantee their place in the semifinals, New Zealand would need to acquire at least two more victories. In contrast, the teams they play in the remaining games are difficult. The Kiwis have three elite opponents to defeat in addition to their ultimate game against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru. They should aim for victories against Pakistan and Australia, making sure that they secure win at least one.

South Africa: 3rd position

Upcoming matches: Bangladesh, Pakistan, New Zealand, India & Afghanistan.

Points: 6

They should defeat Afghanistan and Bangladesh, bringing their total to ten points. A victory or two over one of the other three teams will secure their position.

Australia: 4th position

Upcoming matches: Netherlands, New Zealand, England, Afghanistan & Bangladesh.

Points: 4

To earn 10 points, Australia needs victories over Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and the Netherlands. They would still have to overcome either England or New Zealand.

Pakistan: 5th position

Upcoming matches: Afghanistan, South Africa, Bangladesh, New Zealand & England.

Points: 4

Pakistan must triumph in four of the five games in order to reach at least 12 points. If they finish with ten points, it will put their fate in the hands of other teams and call for several favorable outcomes.

Bangladesh: 6th position

Upcoming matches: South Africa, Netherlands, Pakistan, Sri Lanka & Australia.

Points: 2

Even if Bangladesh triumph over Sri Lanka and the Netherlands, they still must take out South Africa, Pakistan, and Australia.

Netherlands: 7th position

Upcoming matches: Australia, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, England & India.

Points: 2

Netherlands must prevail in every game left to achieve that. The Men in Orange will reach the necessary 12 points if they win all of them.

Sri Lanka: 8th position

Upcoming matches: England, Afghanistan, India, Bangladesh & New Zealand.

Points: 2

Sri Lanka are still in the running for a spot in the semifinals. But getting there will be an enormous challenge for them. Sri Lanka needs to win every game left in order to qualify.

England: 9th position

Upcoming matches: Sri Lanka, India, Australia, Netherlands, Pakistan.

Points: 2

For England to have any chance of making it, they must win every game left. England will score 12 points if they win their remaining games.

Afghanistan: 10th position

Upcoming matches: Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Netherlands, Australia & South Africa

Points: 2

They must win every game that is left, and some of them must be defeated by sizable margins. Afghanistan currently has the lowest net run rate (-1.250).
