China may have shown resilience in the last few meetings, but it is still not ready to fully withdraw from the finger area. China is still not weakening its position in finger area.
However, according to sources, during the negotiations, China had agreed to completely pull back its troops and their presence there from the skirmishes in the Galvan Valley, Hot Springs and Gogra Post in eastern Ladakh. India-China troops had also retreated from many places.
“During the India-China talks, the Chinese side expressed reluctance to move out of the areas near Finger 8 completely,” the sources said. He further explained that in areas near Finger 4, Chinese troops have begun to dismantle their infrastructure from blacktop and greentop.
About 15 hours of intense discussion ensued between senior commanders of the two armies. The talks on behalf of India were represented by Lieutenant General Harinder Singh. Negotiations between the two sides began at 11:30 am on July 14, which lasted until two in the night.
The Chinese soldiers built shelters to barrack and live in those areas, which would be dismantled upon their return. The Chinese have moved far behind the Line of Actual Control (LAC) at Patrolling Point 14 and adjacent to the PP-15.
