She plays Sunderben Jetha Madharparya, the brave social worker who took 299 women along with her to support the Indian Army. And now, her look from the film has been released.
In a previous interview with us, the Dabangg actress had discussed the film, saying, “It’s a true story about the 1971 Indo-Pak war, and I am playing the role of Sunderben who built a runway in the middle of Bhuj. It’s a beautiful role and I am excited about reprising this character.”
Sonakshi seems destined for the part. This was the fourth time she was being offered the role. “I was offered this role three times, but somehow it didn’t work out earlier. I feel happy and surprised that it finally came to me.” she said.
Sonakshi fits well in both commercial and offbeat films. And Bhuj adds to the actress’s varied kitty. “I want to balance every kind of cinema. I don’t make a difference between commercial and parallel cinema. I can fit in any role, be it commercial, offbeat, comedy, tragedy or any genre. I am glad that I have that image. Filmmakers approach me for all kinds of genres; this is indeed a blessing for me,” concluded the actress.
The film is directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya and also stars Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Ammy Virk and Sharad Kelkar.
