Bollywood actress Mansi Sharma who has some good projects in hand is, at present gearing up for her upcoming film Ginny Weds Sunny featuring Vikrant Massey and Yami Gautam.
You’re playing an important character in ‘Ginny Weds Sunny’ . Is it almost the same character you have played in previous films?
Well, No I don’t generalize any character but the main reason for doing this one was the story and potential character. It’s a beautiful romantic comedy and it is a different character from my previous films. My character is of a sweet Punjabi girl who happens to be Yami’s one of close friends.
Tell us more about this character. Does it in any way resemble you?
I personally like this character, a sweet, simple girl and its the exact replica of me. I had already played a Punjabi character in my previous Punjabi movie titled ‘Amaanat’, but I felt great when I played this character in ‘Ginny Weds Sunny’.
How did you venture into Hindi film industry?
Since my childhood I always wanted to be an actor, so after completing my graduation with good marks I decided to pursue acting classes from Delhi. I gave a lot of auditions and did Theatre as well.
How was your experience working with Yami and Vikrant?
It was an amazing experience. We all enjoyed a lot on set. We used to dance, wander, chat. I learned a lot from both of them they are the key example of the fact that hard-work pays and talent always finds it way.
How has been your experience in the industry so far, good, bad ugly?
It’s a very ‘khatta meetha’ type of experience but as I told you, I always wanted to become an actor. So for me it’s not struggle. It is a part of my journey but yeah it’s really tough being an outsider to get good opportunities. I have faced many ups and downs throughout this journey.
What kind of roles are there in your bucket list? Which are the ones you have already done?
I have played many characters including emotional, comedy, handicapped, negative, positive, grey shade till date but there are still many which I would love to do.
Who are the actors and directors you wish to work with?
Hmm.... it’s a long list but in actors I really want to work with SRK because since my childhood he has been my inspiration. In the list of directors I have worked with Srijit Mukherji and Pradeep Sarkar which was not less than a dream come true. And it’s very difficult to pick one. Of course there are many I would love to work with including Imtiaz Ali, Anubhav Sinha, Shoojit Sircar, Rajkumar Hirani, Gauri Shinde and many more....
What are your upcoming projects?
Well I have a few in pipeline which I can’t disclose yet. I also have one feature film starring Ankita Lokhande where I am playing parallel lead.
Being an outsider how do you look up to industry and what you have to say about it?
Being an outsider it’s not that tough but yeah it will take all your efforts and hardwork to get good opportunities. Outsiders take more time to get good work, but I believe it’s not impossible. My only mantra is to groom yourself and then it won’t matter whether you’re outsider or insider.
