Miss Universe 2023 LIVE Updates: India's representative at the pageant, 23-year-old Shweta Sharda, who became eligible to take part in Miss Universe 2023 pageant after winning the Miss Diva Universe 2023 crown this August, has made it to the semi-finals of Miss Universe 2023.

The 72nd Miss Universe pageant is being hosted in El Salvador, with contestants from over 90 nations looking to win the coveted crown. This year's Miss Universe pageant carries additional significance as it embraces inclusivity and progress. Michelle Cohn from Guatemala and Maria Camila Avella Montañez from Colombia will be the first married mothers taking part in the pageant. Also, Netherlands' Rikkie Valerie Kolle and Portugal's Marina Machete will follow in the footsteps of Angela Ponce as trans women to participate in this year's competition. The event is being hosted by Maria Menounos alongside Olivia Culpo and Jeannie Mai. Sharda is a graduate of the Indira Gandhi National Open University in Delhi. The 23-year-old is from Chandigarh and moved to Mumbai with her mother at the age of 16.

Nicaragua’s Sheynnis Palacios has been announced as the winner of the Miss Universe 2023 title in a grand event that was held at the Jose Adolfo Pineda Arena in San Salvador, El Salvador on November 19 (according to IST). She was crowned by Miss Universe 2022 - USA’s R'Bonney Gabriel – on stage as the crowd applauded the winner.

In the 72nd Miss Universe pageant this year, contestants from 84 countries and territories competed against each other. The pageant was hosted by American television personality Jeannie Mai and Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo, apart from American television presenter Maria Menounos.
