World no longer buying Indian narrative 'blindly' due to Pakistan's efforts: Pakistan Foreign Minister Featured

  12 October 2020

ISLAMABAD:Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said Pakistan’s has successfully countered Indian narrative on terrorism and Kashmir through its successful foreign policy and narrative building efforts.

“Today the international community and media are not buying Indian narrative blindly and they question [their narrative] because there is counter narrative today,” he said while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the new media center at Foreign Office in Islamabad on Monday.

The foreign minister said following 9/11 terrorist attack in United States, India had “cleverly and cunningly” linked the Kashmiris’ struggle for their right to self-determination with terrorism.

Qureshi said India on one hand was killing innocent people of Occupied Kashmir and on the other accusing them and Pakistan of supporting terrorism in the guise of narrative that was shaped following 9/11 terrorist attack in the world.

“But with successful narrative building and National Action Plan against terrorism we not only defeated terrorism but also improved Pakistan’s image internationally,” he added.

He said due to proactive role of the foreign office, Pakistan's narrative on Kashmir is being acknowledged at international level including European Parliament and world press.

“Due to this role, now Pakistan is being viewed as part of the solution, not the problem and entire world is appreciating the positive role of Pakistan in Afghan peace process.”

FM Qureshi also stressed the need for promoting digital diplomacy in projecting the positive image of the country in view of Covid-19 pandemic and added that modern diplomacy is impossible without the robust engagement of media with the foreign office.

He urged the media to play active role in countering negative propaganda of the enemy and fake news against Pakistan.
