Eoin Morgan says that the intention was to bowl two quicks as Archer and Wood can bowl at a very good pace and it is great to have them in your side. Feels that the wicket was better than it was in the nets, but they planned to bowl good lengths and also straight, at the wickets. On the form of Roy, he says that is a huge competition in the team to play and it is always good for a side to have someone who can show such displays. On the contrast of the Test and limited-overs squads and results, he says that the format of the game is different and adds that previously as well, the white-ball guys have played first and performed poorly and then the Test squad has played after them and shown strong displays and vice-versa. Praises his bowling unit and says that there is good competition in the bowling department as well and adds that there will be challenges throughout the series, going forward. 

Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, says that his batsmen were simply not aware of how to bat on that deck. Accepts that there was a lack of clarity in the minds of the batsmen on how to play on the deck, with the ball not coming onto the bat. Praises Shreyas Iyer for his knock but laments the others not learning from him and lauds England for cantering off to a win. Genuinely says that India perhaps thought far too ahead of themselves and did not spend enough time in the middle. On fans reacting to Virat Kohli not scoring, Kohli smiles and says that when you play for long, there are bound to be highs and lows but stresses that he is always positive whenever he goes out to bat. Does not feel that playing a T20I after a Test derails momentum, detailing that they have done that in the past. Adds that India have just these 5 games before the World Cup and need to utilize every game to the fullest.

Roy says that he is feeling a bit sweaty but enjoying all the same. Smiles on missing out on his half century and says that he will take 49 any time of the day, if the team is winning. Hopes that this win sets the tone for the rest of the series. Says that Adil Rashid has helped him a lot in the nets, to play spin. On his learnings from various tours to India, Roy says that every time one keeps learning and one thing, he has learnt, he says, is to finish off games. On Jos Buttler being sedate during their opening stand, Jason does not quite seem to agree and feels that Buttler was timing the ball beautifully.

Earlier in the day, Morgan gave the bat to the Indians and asked them to post a total. The Indians were giving their wickets off, like it was an end-of-the-season sale, as they were rocked and were at 20/3 at one point. If not for Shreyas Iyer's 67, India would have finished with a very low score. Archer was the pick of the lot as he grabbed a 3-fer and he was well supported by the rest of the English bowlers. They did not let India into the game and ensured that the English Lions start the series off with a bang. 

You can't really fault the Indians for their bowling performance, as the total was pretty low, to begin with, but still, they could have done much better and could have pressurized England, which they were not really able to do. It was Chahal's 100th international game and he was tonked all over the park, as he finished with figures of 4-0-44-1, and he and Sundar were in the wickets column but in the end, it did not matter all that much. 

Even though the target was a small one, Morgan would have wanted his boys to begin with a flash and stamp their authority on this game, and that is exactly what they did. The opening duo of Roy and Buttler ensured with their stand of 72, they shut down any ideas of an Indian win here. Even though Buttler and Roy fell and could not see of the game, the damage had been done and Malan and Bairstow finished things off nicely. 

Very easily done in the end by the Brits! They came out with intent and attacked right from ball one and that display has ensured that they win this game with 27 balls to spare. This win also sees them start the white-ball leg of the tour with a win and they go 1-0 up, in the 5-game T20I series.
