Zelenskyy explains why Putin wants peace talks Featured

  15 फरवरी 2025

Russian President Vladimir Putin seeks "peace talks" not to end the war, but to take a pause. A ceasefire would also help lift some sanctions, states Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview for NBC News.

According to him, Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin wants to sit down for negotiations not to end the war, but to reach a ceasefire agreement that would lift some international sanctions on Russia and allow its armed forces to regroup.

"This is really what he wants. He wants pause, prepare, train, take off some sanctions, because of ceasefire and et cetera," Zelenskyy stated.

Ukraine and Russia negotiations

Recently, US President Donald Trump held talks with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

It was also recently reported that Trump has selected a team to participate in negotiations aimed at ending Russia's war against Ukraine. According to him, Ukraine will be involved in the negotiations with Russia to end the war. He also expressed a desire to bring Russia back into the G7.

Additionally, Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin has gathered a team for negotiations with the US regarding Ukraine. The team includes so-called "heavyweights."

It is also important to note that in their statements, several world leaders, including President Zelenskyy, have insisted on Europe's involvement in the future negotiations. Specifically, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that Russia’s war against Ukraine is taking place on European soil, so Europe must be involved in the peace process.
