India vs England , 1st T20I Live Cricket Scores & Commentary Featured

  12 March 2021
Right then. India have been brought down to the ground, from Cloud-9 and probably have not recovered from their hangover, of their Test series victory.
Whereas, the English Lions will be glad, to begin with a win and will look to double their advantage, come the second game. Some work to be done for the Indians before the second game, which will take place on Sunday, 14th March 2021 at 7 pm IST. But, as you already know, the build-up will begin much earlier. Join us for the same. Until then, cheers and goodbye!
Husted through the Indian batting

Man Of The Match - Jofra Archer

On being asked about loving to play in India, Archer says that when the competition is tough, you need to step up and that usually brings out the best in him. On being primed as the death bowler, Archer says that probably it could be so in the Indian T20 League, but not quite so in the England setup, where they look to him to attack with the new ball. Stresses that he tries to go for dot balls rather than wickets and that helps other bowlers along with himself.

On being asked about a specific plan change when a batsman plays a four or a six, Archer says that it boils down to bowling different types of balls, rather than having a set plan. Chides that he now has wifi along with him in his room, which helps him enjoy his X-box. Calmly accepts, does not even react, when informed that these were his best bowling figures in T20Is.

Well played

How's the winning skipper feeling?

Eoin Morgan says that the intention was to bowl two quicks as Archer and Wood can bowl at a very good pace and it is great to have them in your side. Feels that the wicket was better than it was in the nets, but they planned to bowl good lengths and also straight, at the wickets. On the form of Roy, he says that is a huge competition in the team to play and it is always good for a side to have someone who can show such displays. On the contrast of the Test and limited-overs squads and results, he says that the format of the game is different and adds that previously as well, the white-ball guys have played first and performed poorly and then the Test squad has played after them and shown strong displays and vice-versa. Praises his bowling unit and says that there is good competition in the bowling department as well and adds that there will be challenges throughout the series, going forward.

This is where the game was lost
VK speaks...

Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, says that his batsmen were simply not aware of how to bat on that deck. Accepts that there was a lack of clarity in the minds of the batsmen on how to play on the deck, with the ball not coming onto the bat. Praises Shreyas Iyer for his knock but laments the others not learning from him and lauds England for cantering off to a win. Genuinely says that India perhaps thought far too ahead of themselves and did not spend enough time in the middle. On fans reacting to Virat Kohli not scoring, Kohli smiles and says that when you play for long, there are bound to be highs and lows but stresses that he is always positive whenever he goes out to bat. Does not feel that playing a T20I after a Test derails momentum, detailing that they have done that in the past. Adds that India have just these 5 games before the World Cup and need to utilize every game to the fullest.

... Presentation time...
Always performs in the opening game of a series!
Jason Roy is up for a chat...

Roy says that he is feeling a bit sweaty but enjoying all the same. Smiles on missing out on his half century and says that he will take 49 any time of the day, if the team is winning. Hopes that this win sets the tone for the rest of the series. Says that Adil Rashid has helped him a lot in the nets, to play spin. On his learnings from various tours to India, Roy says that every time one keeps learning and one thing, he has learnt, he says, is to finish off games. On Jos Buttler being sedate during their opening stand, Jason does not quite seem to agree and feels that Buttler was timing the ball beautifully.

India's saving grace
Story of the first innings!

Earlier in the day, Morgan gave the bat to the Indians and asked them to post a total. The Indians were giving their wickets off, like it was an end-of-the-season sale, as they were rocked and were at 20/3 at one point. If not for Shreyas Iyer's 67, India would have finished with a very low score. Archer was the pick of the lot as he grabbed a 3-fer and he was well supported by the rest of the English bowlers. They did not let India into the game and ensured that the English Lions start the series off with a bang.

A game to forget
Sorry show!

You can't really fault the Indians for their bowling performance, as the total was pretty low, to begin with, but still, they could have done much better and could have pressurized England, which they were not really able to do. It was Chahal's 100th international game and he was tonked all over the park, as he finished with figures of 4-0-44-1, and he and Sundar were in the wickets column but in the end, it did not matter all that much.

Set the platform for the chase
Clinical display!

Even though the target was a small one, Morgan would have wanted his boys to begin with a flash and stamp their authority on this game, and that is exactly what they did. The opening duo of Roy and Buttler ensured with their stand of 72, they shut down any ideas of an Indian win here. Even though Buttler and Roy fell and could not see of the game, the damage had been done and Malan and Bairstow finished things off nicely.

Easily done
Easy as you like!

Very easily done in the end by the Brits! They came out with intent and attacked right from ball one and that display has ensured that they win this game with 27 balls to spare. This win also sees them start the white-ball leg of the tour with a win and they go 1-0 up, in the 5-game T20I series.

Washington Sundar to Dawid Malan
SIX! SLAP! That is finished off in style. Tossed up, outside off, Dawid Malan comes down the track and lofts it flat, over mid off. Clears long off with ease. Does not even bother to run. ENGLAND WIN BY 8 WICKETS AND 27 BALLS TO SPARE!

Shardul Thakur to Dawid Malan
DIRECT HIT WOULD HAVE HAD MALAN! Dawid looks to work it to the leg side but gets it off the inner half of the bat to the leg side. Bairstow calls him through for a quick single and two people respond - the striker and the bowler. Shardul Thakur quickly gets to the ball, picks it up, turns and has a shy at the bowler's end. Misses and would have had Malan with a dive.

Washington Sundar to Dawid Malan
Possible missed chance. What was mentioned in the insert before, has happened after this event. Full, around middle, Dawid Malan chips it straight back. Now, Bairstow is looking for a single, hence has come out of the crease. The ball comes straight at him and he tries to duck. And at the same time, Sundar goes for the catch. But he collides with Bairstow and the ball hits the latter on his helmet! Sundar is not happy but Bairstow is not backing off either. They start to fight and eventually, the umpire intervenes. No fault of Bairstow, really.
Fighting! Argument! The usually calm Washington Sundar is having a go at Jonny Bairstow, who gives it back. Eventually, the umpire separates them.

FOUR! SLAM! Seems like Jonny Bairstow is removing all his frustration from the Test series in this game. Full, around off, Bairstow hammers it down to long on. The fielder is a touch wide and the ball meets the ropes in a flash. Seems like Jonny is batting like a man owning this surface.
Expensive on this 100th international game!

Yuzvendra Chahal to Dawid Malan
Full, around middle, Dawid Malan tries a fancy scoop but gets it off the toe of the bat, back to the bowler. Malan looks behind to see where the ball went, having no idea where it actually was,

Yuzvendra Chahal to Jonny Bairstow
JUST SHORT! Valiant effort from Shikhar Dhawan. Full and down the leg side, Bairstow comes down the track and flicks it uppishly. The ball is flat and travelling towards deep mid-wicket. Dhawan coms running in and dives forward but the ball lands just in front. Well done to stop it from going behind. Just a single.

Yuzvendra Chahal to Jonny Bairstow
SIX! Just a chip! Effortless from Jonny Bairstow. Tossed up, outside off, Bairstow comes down the track and with subtle wrists, flicks it over long on. Hardik Pandya thinks he has a chance at long on but the ball sails over. 27 more needed from 47 balls.
Yuzvendra Chahal returns. 3-0-29-1 so far.
Can he make it memorable?

Washington Sundar to Jason Roy
OUT! LBW! Washington Sundar strikes on his first ball! Jason Roy has been adjudged LBW! Looks dead to the naked eye, unless there is an inside edge. Roy takes the review. Nothing on the UltraEdge.Hitting the wickets as per Ball Tracker, with the impact to be umpire's call! Outside off, Roy went back to try and nudge it to the leg side, for a cheeky single but missed it as the ball turned in. Was hit on the pads and up went the umpire's finger. Initially, it felt like Roy was walking off but he preferred to have a second look. Goes for a well-made 49. Do India have an opening? England need 36 more from 53 balls.
Washington Sundar to bowl now.
A total bad day at the office
