Demanding scrapping of the three farm laws, hundreds of farmers gathered outside Hisar airport to stage a protest after Dushyant Chautala arrived there on Thursday.

Up in arms against the controversial farm laws, hundreds of farmers on Thursday held a protest against Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala outside Hisar airport.A great grandson of former deputy PM Chaudhary Devi Lal, Dushyant Chautala had arrived at the airport to attend a meeting and some other programmes. When the farmers, who have been protesting in Hisar against the agricultural laws for several months, learned about Dushyant Chautala’s visit, they gathered outside the airport in large numbers.

The irate farmers, including women, carried black flags and raised slogans against Dushyant Chautala and the government on the main road outside the airport, demanding scrapping of the three farm laws.Traffic on the busy Hisar-Delhi national highway was also disrupted for several hours as the agitators were not ready to give way to traffic on the road.Chautala, whose Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) is a coalition partner of the ruling BJP in Haryana, has faced repeated protests from farmers over the past few months for supporting the agricultural laws.

The Centre has claimed that the farm laws will benefit farmers by freeing them from the clutches of middlemen and ushering in new technology in the sector. However, farmers say these legislations will remove the safety net of minimum support price (MSP) and leave them at the mercy of big corporates. They have been demanding repeal of the laws for several months.
