Congress demonstrated nationwide against increase in petrol and diesel prices Featured

  01 July 2020

New Delhi. The Congress has been demonstrating nationwide about the prices of petrol and diesel increasing every day for the last time. After consistently rising prices, diesel prices have outpaced petrol prices.

While the leaders of the Pradesh Congress Committee and Youth Congress protested on the road in Bihar, the Congress protested by taking out a cycle rally in Karnataka. Apart from the State Congress President in Bihar, former Union Minister Tariq Anwar also participated in the protest. At the same time, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and State Congress President DK Shivakumar also attended the cycle rally in Karnataka.

Congress workers will protest in many states today to demand the withdrawal of increased oil prices. Let me tell you that the Congress has demonstrated for 5 days against the increase in oil prices.

Congress general secretary K.C. Venugopal said that the party will also protest against the fuel price hike on Monday from 11 am to 12 noon in front of central government offices.

He said that the purpose of these protests is to bring out the problems faced by the people due to fuel price hike and also to open the stigma of BJP's policies and programs.

Venugopal said that the price of motor fuel has been increasing for the last 21 days, while the price of crude oil in international market is at a record low. This is putting unnecessary burden on the general public. He alleged that the central government has recovered huge amount by increasing the central excise duty on petrol and diesel.

Congress's digital camp against oil price hike:

Apart from this, Congress is also running online campane today against the increase in oil prices. Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi has posted a video message under #SpeakUpAgainstFuelHike and appealed to people to speak out against rising petrol-diesel prices.

In her video message, Sonia Gandhi said that the continuous increase in petrol and diesel amid the Corona epidemic has made it difficult for the countrymen to live. He said that after the lockdown on March 25, the Modi government increased the prices of petrol and diesel 22 times in the last three months, this is happening in this government at a time when the prices of crude oil are continuously decreasing in the international market.

He said that after 2014, instead of giving the people the benefit of falling crude oil prices, the Modi government increased excise duty 12 times, due to which the prices of petrol and diesel are skyrocketing.
