Close on the heels of Jharkhand judge Uttam Anand being allegedly mowed down by a vehicle, another judge, this time from Uttar Pradesh has filed a complaint alleging that there was an attempt on his life with a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) ramming into his vehicle.
Additional District Judge Mohammad Ahmad Khan, posted at Fatehpur, stated in a complaint that his vehicle was deliberately hit by a SUV and suffered injuries as a consequence and "it was an attempt to kill him".
Following the judge's complaint, the local police registered a First Information Report (FIR).The incident allegedly took place when Khan was returning to Fatehpur from Prayagraj after a personal trip. The complaint by the judge said that one of the litigants had recently threatened him with dire consequence after he had rejected the bail application filed by that person.
As per a report by Bar & Bench, police officials confirmed that an FIR has been registered in the matter and they will be investigating into the complaint.
It has been reported that there was no connection between the SUV car owner and the judge.Uttam Anand, who was Additional District and Sessions Judge at Dhanbad, was killed in a road accident when he was out for a morning walk earlier this week. While it was initially believed to be an accident, CCTV footage of the incident suggests that the vehicle deliberately rammed into the judge as he was walking along the edge of the road.
The Supreme Court, along with the Jharkhand High Court, has taken suo motu cognizance of the incident.
