Congress preparing to tighten the BSP's test before the by-election Featured

  13 July 2020

Bhopal Bureau: In the last assembly election, the Bahujan Samaj Party, which is leading the BJP by cutting the votes of the Congress in many seats, is also considered as a big challenge in the Congress by-election.

In fact, among the 24 seats to be by-election, 16 seats in Gwalior-Chambal area are also included. In these 16 seats, there is a good number of Scheduled Caste voters in most of the seats and after the BSP has announced that it will contest all the 24 seats of the by-election, the Congress is now working on caste equations.

In the 2018 assembly elections, Bahujan Samaj Party had given a big dent to the Congress in many seats. That is why the Congress could not win enough seats despite good performance. Although the Bahujan Samaj Party was reduced to just two seats, due to polarization of caste votes, the Congress lost many seats by a very small margin and the BJP benefited from these seats.

In the last few months, the Congress has made a big dent in the BSP from the Gwalior-Chambal area and the large number of BSP officers and workers joining the Congress is a big indication that the Congress is eyeing the voters in the Scheduled Castes.

Pragi Lal Jatav, a recent BSP strongman and contestant in the 2008 elections on the BSP ticket from Karaira assembly, has recently joined the Congress. Pragilal Jatav was third in this election. Despite being in third place, 40026 votes were received. Pragilal Jatav has a significant impact on scheduled caste voters in Shivpuri district.

If Congress sources are to be believed, a special campaign is going on to connect Scheduled Caste voters in the 16 seats of Gwalior Chambal area. Sources said that if we look at the present situation, now the position of Bahujan Samaj Party is not the same as before. Its organization has weakened and more than half of the BSP would have been vacant before the by-election was announced. If even then, the BSP stands for its candidates, then it will not have any major impact on the Congress.

Congress campaigning postponed:

For the by-elections in Madhya Pradesh, the Congress campaign in the Gwalior-Chambal area, starting July 13, has been postponed for the time being. The campaign was to run from 13 July to 17 July. Under this campaign, Congress leaders Sajjan Singh Verma, NP Prajapati, Dr. Govind Singh, KP Singh, Ashok Singh, Arun Yadav, Ajay Singh, Arif Akeel, Lakhan Singh Yadav and Phool Singh Baraiya boarded a bus and campaigned for publicity. Were about to leave.

According to party sources, the campaign has been postponed for the time being due to the increasing cases of Corona activism and a new date will be announced soon.
