12.20 crore people lost jobs due to lock down. Featured

New Delhi. Due to the lock down implemented nationwide due to Corona infection, unemployment has increased rapidly in the country. Statistics show that a large number of people lost their jobs in April and May.

According to a report by the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), unemployment has increased more in May than in April. According to the report, in the week ending May 31, the unemployment rate in the country has reached 23.48 percent.

The unemployment rate in April was 23.52 percent. The unemployment rate was 24.3 percent in the week ended 24 May. This rate is higher than the average 24.2 percent rate for the first 8 weeks of lockdown.

In January 2020, the urban unemployment rate was 9.70 percent, while in May it rose 16.09 percent to 25.79 percent. Similarly, in January 2020, the rural unemployment rate was 6.06 percent, which has increased to 16.42 percent in May, to 22.48 percent.

According to the report, after the central government relaxed the lock down rule, 2 crore people have started going to work again in May. Due to which the rate of employment in the country has increased by 2 percent to 29 percent. Whereas the same rate was at 27 percent in April.
